Starbucks just launched a new method of payment in their stores, where you can pay by an app in your smartphone without having to take out your wallet! How amazing is this? I think is't great, how many of us have forgotten our wallets at homes and wanted a coffe or a frapuccino and couldn't have it? well it has happened to me.
For me it's amazing how much you can do with a smartphone these days, for example, the other day I was watching the new commercial of Chase, where you can download an app and take pictures of check and they will automatically be deposited into your account.
I think that this is just the beginning for many more options like this to come in the near future, and we should embrace all that this apps have to offer!
Hi Anni,
ReplyDeleteI think that the idea of having our bank in our cell phones is great for many reasons. First, you don’t need to have a PC or even go to an ATM to do almost every type of transaction. Second, some banks have application that help customer with their spending levels, once you are over you “budget” they send you an alert. This particular application can help many people to save. Finally, it is normal to forget to do a payment and you can do it through your phone almost everywhere. In conclusion, I support technology that makes our lives easier.
Ani, I definitely agree. Technology has been providing connivence to the consumer in levels most of us never imagined, and this is just the beginning. The application of this payment system can be extended to any area or industry. Certainly this represents a great business opportunity. It is a fact that most people are concern about security issues, but frauds on credit cards are not precisely in its lowest level, so who knows if this alternative can offer a better solution. I believe consumer will be paying with their smartphone pretty soon
ReplyDeleteAs I said in my blog, I definitely love this new application! and this could be the beginning of a new cashless era. No more wallets!! This will be great! Just when I thought Starbucks couldn't do anything innovative besides changing its logo...
